In college, most lectures usually had a few students who were more likely to answer questions or participate in discussions. These individuals were almost always male, and I, as a female, was an exception to this pattern. I was always pretty aware of this.

I have been aware that my sexual identity was different than others most of my life so I have always been aware of gender norms, and aware of whether I conformed to which identidy. this gave me opportuity to be more aware of others as well and what was expected in our society.
